About Us

Who We Are

Bokaro Steel Plant (BSL), a premier unit of the Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), stands as a testament to India's industrial prowess. Strategically located in Bokaro, Jharkhand, BSL is renowned for its state-of-the-art infrastructure, diverse product range, and commitment to excellence in steel production.

Conceived in the late 1950s, the Bokaro Steel Plant was established in collaboration with the former Soviet Union. Incorporated as a limited company in 1964, it became a part of SAIL in 1978. BSL is recognized as India's first 'Swadeshi' steel plant, emphasizing indigenous development in equipment, materials, and know-how.

Why "अरिष्ट"

The integrated steel industry plays a crucial role in the economic development of any nation, especially in the context of the vision of "Viksit Bharat" (Developed India). However, this industry also faces several challenges, particularly in terms of maintaining safety standards, managing the complex production processes, and ensuring sustainability. The application of Digital Innovation technologies offers transformative solutions to address these challenges. The safety of workers, equipment, and the environment is of paramount importance in such high-risk industries.

The theme of this conclave—“Digital Innovation Technologies for Enhanced Safety in Integrated Steel Plants for Viksit Bharat”—focuses on how advanced digital tools and technologies can be leveraged to create smarter, safer, and more sustainable steel plants. This concept aims to reduce man-machine intervention, enhancing operational efficiency, safety protocols, and sustainability initiatives.
